Details of our list of the best Blog apps :

Bloggle

Bloggle is a Shopify blog editor app that enables blog design, content planning, and article optimization for search engines.

The interface is designed with user experience in mind; there are in-app suggestions and help sections, and the app is intuitive enough for newbies in the e-commerce and content marketing world. You’ll also like the fact that speed tests have proved that the Bloggle app will have a low impact on your Shopify store due to fast-loading pages. This will ensure a great user experience for both your blog readers and shoppers.

Key Features of Bloggle

Customizing the blog layout

Bloggle’s simplicity is a result of a well-thought-out UX and UI. The entire solution requires no code, everything is based on the visual drag-and-drop system, which makes it extremely easy to create and edit both in the layout and in the posts.

Bloggle allows you to preview how your blog layout will look on different devices.

On the left you can explore different Title & Header styles, types of Navigation & Search you want to implement, how your articles will be displayed, and more.

If you have a tech team, it’s possible to deploy custom CSS and customize your layout even further.

Boost your SEO

Bloggle has a thorough SEO scoring system that helps ensure your blog posts are well-optimized. It suggests the length of your SEO title, Meta description, shows SEO tags, reminds you to complete ALT tags, and more.

As you go through this easy-to-follow checklist, you will see the SEO score go up.All you need to know is which keyword you’re targeting and Bloggle will provide suggestions on optimization steps and article structure.

Increase your conversion rate

As you grow your Shopify store, you will want to drive more qualified traffic to it via your blog posts. But this is difficult to do if you don’t have a way to present your products within the content. Bloggle allows you to embed products into your blog posts and it takes just one click for your shoppers to go to the product and fill up their shopping cart.

For example: You talk about the perfect skincare or the natural makeup look, you provide instructions on how your readers can achieve this, and then you embed the products that they can immediately buy. More sales for you and a better experience for your customers.

Rich blog editor

Every Shopify store owner, no matter how big or small has one resource they’d like to save: time. Bloggle is a huge time-saver. It allows you to create or use existing templates regularly, save sections, and speed up the process.

This has multiple benefits. You will not get frustrated by clunky UI because:

  • It’s really simple to use
  • You will be able to publish more blog posts and attract more people to your Shopify store
  • It will save resources on dev time (features built-in) and can be easily delegated to juniors, interns or similar (as many customers have done).

Bloggle Pricing

Bloggle is priced at $24.90 per month. There is also an option of a 10-day free trial

In this plan, you get unlimited blog posts, an SEO score analyzer, and the ability to embed products in articles, which is crucial for all Shopify merchants that want to use content marketing to increase sales. It’s also possible to edit all the metadata (authors, date posts), schedule posts, and create your own templates that can be reused in the future.

Blog Studio

Blog Studio is one of the cheaper blog app options on the market. You can use it directly in your Shopify admin. The interface and functionality feel like they would if WordPress and Wix had a baby: you can still see that the content editor mimics some of the WordPress look and feel, as well as functionalities, but then the drag-and-drop system gives you Wix flashbacks.

The interface is intuitive and very simple, although it could be visually improved. Overall, Blog Studio does what it says on the tin, but it all depends on how high your quality bar is when it comes to the look and feel of your Shopify blog. In our opinion, these matter because they contribute to the impression a shopper forms about your brand and can even impact their buying decisions.

Features :

Overall, the Blog Studio does offer value and it seems like the team is continuously adding built-in components to make the editing experience more convenient and the published posts less buggy and more aesthetically pleasing. Just like with most blog apps, you can duplicate existing articles if you want to use them as a template for your next post.

Blog Editor Pricing

Like we said, it’s rather cheap—$9.99 per month. We believe it’s a fair price for what’s included. You can also sign up for a free 14-day trial.

Shogun

Shogun is actually a page builder that has blog customization as a feature which is why we decided to include it in our best blog apps for Shopify list. We’re not going to talk about their powerful Frontend builder (although we tip our hat to them for that), but we’ll be focusing on what makes them fit into our “blog apps for Shopify” category.

Shogun allows you to customize your entire Shopify store, blog included. Their solution is based on a drag-and-drop system. You can use templates, their library of elements, and play around with testing different hypotheses to increase conversions.

Features :

Here’s an example from the Shogun’s demo of how you can easily add products into your blog posts by selecting them from a drop-down menu that’s connected to your store.

Nothing too complicated or fancy, so it’s solid for those who want a straightforward solution. However, Shogun was intentionally built as a more robust solution, not just as a way to simply plug your blog into your existing Shopify store. That’s something to have in mind also when looking at pricing.

Shogun Pricing

There is a free option that’s somewhat limiting, but it could be a good way for you to test out the UX and UI and see whether or not you’d like to move to the paid plan. The Build plan allows you to publish 25 pages and all page types, use over 30+ page templates, and enjoy the unlimited use of Blocks. The Measure plan increases the number of available pages to 250 and offers the analytics suite paired with content scheduling. The most expensive plan has unlimited pages and user permissions as its main differentiating features.

In our opinion, Shogun is a great product, the only question is do you really need it? If blog is all you need, then it’s maybe a bit over the top.

Most of the reviews are positive, but some mentioned cons related to the learning curve (especially in terms of design and code), the lack of versatility in terms of available templates, and whether or not you actually need it if you have Shopify 2.0. But despite the difficulties, their customer support team is rather responsive.

PageFly

PageFly is a solution very similar to Shogun meaning that it’s not just a blog app for Shopify, but it offers landing page creation for your online store. The solution relies on a drag-and-drop system that helps you build landing, product, home, and blog pages.

The idea they market is to customize everything from a single place to preserve your brand consistency, i.e. the visual look and feel.

However, the best blog apps for Shopify already allow you to customize your blog layouts and individual pages, and they inherit the style of your store.

Features :

In general, we have to conclude pretty much the same thing about PageFly as we did about Shogun. It is powerful, and rich with features, but it covers a far broader range of services that you might not currently need. You can basically redo your entire Shopify website and restructure it in the way you want to if you have the time to learn the product.

But we get the feeling you’re here because you want something simpler. Still, we wanted to give you a comprehensive overview of what’s out there so that you can make the smartest choice for your specific business case.

PageFly Pricing

PageFly has a free plan, but generally offers flexible pricing based on the pay-as-you-go model. Monthly plans go from $24 per month to $199 per month (for enterprises). The plans vary based on publishable slots, while the Enterprise plan has all features unlimited along with speed optimization support.

DropIn Blog

DropInBlog is another Shopify blog editor app. Looking at its interface, it is similar to WordPress. When you sign up for a free trial for DropInBlog, you get a walkthrough on how to integrate this blog app into your Shopify store. It’s a 2-step process that requires you to copy and paste the HTML twice. The setup is straightforward.

Their promise to embed a blog into your Shopify store in less than 3 minutes is legit. This solution is “platform agnostic” which means it can integrate with any type of website, including your Shopify store. You don’t have a separate subdomain, it integrates with what you already have and inherits your fonts and colors.

One useful feature is that DropInBlog has a progress reading indicator. It is similar to a sand clock that indicates how much time is left for the reader to read the post, taking into consideration reading speed, of course.

On the admin page, you can see the post titles, SEO scores of each respective post, its category, status, and date of last change. You can easily filter by category or add new posts.

Features :

As you can see from the screenshot below, the interface is very much like WordPress which doesn’t require much technical knowledge, but it still has a steeper learning curve compared to Bloggle, for instance.

DropInBlog seems a bit too robust for a Shopify store owner who just wants to have a functional, simple, and easy-to-use blog app. We believe this is due to the fact that DropInBlog only latterly introduced Shopify into their portfolio. It seems as if their primary audience was more general (e.g. other websites and platforms).

DropIn Blog Pricing

DropInBlog has two pricing plans. The Lite plan is $24 per month whilst the standard plan is $49 per month.

There is an option to try the product for free for 14 days. The main difference is that with the Standard plan, you get post authors and user levels, and can schedule posts. It’s also useful from a UX standpoint to have a blog search feature.
