Matrixify - Shopify Data Bulk Import/Export, Update & Migrate From Excel And CSV

What is Matrixify?

Core Value Proposition

Matrixify (formerly Excelify) is the backstage magician for your Shopify store's data management, making the arduous task of handling large volumes of data as simple as a few clicks. Instead of juggling multiple platforms to manage your store’s data, Matrixify consolidates these tasks into one user-friendly interface. The app allows for seamless bulk import and export of diverse data types (Excel, CSV files, Google Sheets etc.) from products and customers to orders and metafields.

What Primary Purpose It Serves

The app serves as a centralized hub for all your data migration and management needs. Imagine having to manually input each product detail, customer order, or SEO metafield; it would be a long and arduous task. Matrixify streamlines these tasks, allowing you to upload or download massive datasets with ease. Whether you're moving your e-commerce store from another platform like Magento or WordPress, or simply wish to update your Shopify store’s data, Matrixify is designed to save you both time and effort.

Who's it for? Who is it NOT for?

Target Audience

If you're an e-commerce entrepreneur swamped with data, the Matrixify Shopify app is your backstage tech crew. Designed for Shopify store owners who require meticulous data management, this app caters to both small businesses and large enterprises. Whether you're shifting your entire online store from another platform or just need to handle bulk imports and exports, Matrixify has got you covered.

In essence, if your business relies heavily on data—be it product catalogs, customer databases, or order histories—Matrixify serves as a robust tool for you. It's particularly valuable for those who are already comfortable with spreadsheets and want to manipulate large datasets without the need for a dedicated IT team.

Who is it NOT for?

While the tool offers a versatile range of features, it's not a one-size-fits-all solution. If you're a Shopify store owner who's just starting out and your data management needs are minimal, the features may overwhelm you more than assist you. It's like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut; the power is there, but it might be excessive for your needs.

Additionally, if you're seeking instant speed on a budget, Matrixify's cheaper pricing tiers may disappoint you with their slower data export rates. It's also not ideal for people who find spreadsheets intimidating or confusing. In such cases, the learning curve for maximizing Matrixify's potential could steepen, making it less efficient for you.

Features

  • Bulk import/export: Instead of dealing with one data file at a time, you can use Excel (XLSX) and Google Sheets templates to convert and import data from dropshippers, suppliers, or other custom file formats in bulk. After exporting data, it is organized into separate sheets in the same workbook. Import only the columns you need. You can schedule and auto-repeat Export and Import jobs.

  • Advanced Import Options: Use semicolon separation to import multiple images from the same row. You can also update and reorder detailed product information based on SKUs, option values, barcodes, draft orders and other critical data. Matrixify will display how many items are New, Updated, Replaced, Deleted, or Failed as your file imports.

  • SEO Blog and Migration: Update SEO fields for products, collections, and pages—such as metafields—quickly and efficiently. You can also move complete blogs from Shopify to other websites or migrate from WordPress as well. Blog post comments can also be exported.

  • Track Import Progress: Check for duplicates and the ETA for the import of each item along with import status (Success / Fail). View each imported or exported item’s detailed result.

Our Review

After putting Matrixify through its paces, here's the nitty-gritty based on our firsthand experience. We've broken down our observations into different categories to make it easier for you to digest what really matters.

Ease of use

When we first opened Matrixify, the dashboard welcomed us with a clean layout. However, let's be honest: This isn't an app you can dive into without a little prep. A basic grasp of Excel or Google Sheets will go a long way. The interface is clear enough, but if you're completely new to this kind of data work, you might stumble. We felt that a step-by-step guide or a video tutorial could have eased this initial learning curve.

Functionality

Here's where Matrixify really earns its keep. The app's capability to bulk update data is nothing short of a boon. We were particularly drawn to the Advanced Import Options to import products and other data. This feature allowed us to get really specific with how we updated our product data—right down to SKU details. The app also sends real-time notifications that show you the status of each imported or exported item, adding another layer of transparency that we found invaluable. This kind of transparency isn't just a nice-to-have; it's essential for building trust, and we think Matrixify nails this aspect.

Speed

Speed is a double-edged sword with this app. In the lower pricing tiers, don't expect lightning-fast data exports; we learned this the hard way. But if you're willing to pony up for the higher-priced plans, you'll see a considerable bump in speed. This isn't a minor point; when you're dealing with large data sets, every second counts, and we found that the higher-tier plans justified their cost in saved time.

Customer Support

During our trial, we hit a couple of snags. The real test of any service is how they handle these bumps. In the case of Matrixify, customer support was on the ball. We fired off some queries and received responses that were not just quick but also insightful. The team clearly knows their product inside and out, which instilled a lot of confidence in us.

Pricing

Matrixify's pricing isn't one-size-fits-all, and we see this as a good thing. The free demo is okay for dipping your toes in the water, but you'll outgrow it fast. We found that the Basic plan is where things start to get interesting, especially because it unlocks a broader range of features. If you're serious about your Shopify store, consider this the minimum viable investment based on what we've experienced.

Final Thoughts

After rigorous testing and hands-on experience with Matrixify, we've gathered some key insights to share. If you're past the beginner phase in Shopify and are looking for a tool that can handle complex data management tasks, Matrixify should be on your radar. The app offers a plethora of features and delivers where it promises, especially in the realm of data imports and exports.

So, where does that leave us with Matrixify? It's a competent and reliable tool for data management on your Shopify store. If you find that its limitations don't hinder your specific needs—or better yet, don't apply to you at all—then we wholeheartedly recommend taking the plunge. You should now have all the insights you need to make an informed decision.

FAQs

Does Matrixify have a good support team?

Yes, they know the product well and they are willing to help quickly as well. For instance, we needed some help to update product images as a Shopify admin, and it got solved quickly.

Is the free plan good for a beginner?

If you don’t mind the slower export speeds in the free plan, then you can go for it.
